Neuro Developmental Treatment

A brain lesion that causes stroke in adults or cerebral palsy in children can lead to numerous impairments such as sensory and perceptual deficits, cognitive and behavioral changes etc. Most obvious is the neuromuscular impairment leading to paresis/weakness, abnormal coordination, and inability to activate muscles in isolation.  Neurodevelopmental treatment  aims to facilitate or make it easier for the muscles to respond via correct placement of hands by the therapist so that the same muscles can be used for functional movement. Appropriate posture, gravity, objects in the environment, and practice of movement in various directions is coupled with facilitation of key muscles to elicit functional movement.
